Areas of Expertise

Since 1997, Gary has concentrated his practice on two connected fields:

Personal injury law — road traffic accidents, workplace and accident-at-work claims, public liability claims, whiplash claims, and the PIAB / Injuries Resolution Board process.

Medical negligence — claims arising from misdiagnosis, surgical error, delayed treatment, and other failures in clinical care, working with independent medical experts to establish breach of duty and causation.

Experience

Gary qualified as a solicitor in 1992, at the age of 22, and opened his own firm in 1995. He initially ran a general practice covering all areas of law before focusing on personal injury and medical negligence in 1997. Over his career he has mentored six apprentice solicitors, all of whom remain in practice today.

Family and Community

I’m a husband to Alexandra since 1996, an uncle to 18 nephews and nieces, and a long-suffering Armagh GAA supporter — three of my proudest roles. Family is at the core of who I am, and though Alexandra and I weren’t blessed with children, my nephews and nieces often remind me that I am their favourite uncle, despite the competition from my four brothers and one sister. Growing up in a close-knit community, I found love just 30 seconds from my home. Alexandra and I first crossed paths during my 10-year stint as an altar boy at our local Dominican Church.

Early Inspiration and Career

From a young age, work was a central part of my life. My father, a professional dog trainer, taught me a strong work ethic that has shaped who I am today. I knew by the age of eight that I wanted to be a solicitor, inspired by watching reruns of Perry Mason featuring the late Raymond Burr. The idea of justice and the role of the solicitor captivated me. At 22 I fulfilled that dream, qualifying as a solicitor in 1992 and opening my own law firm in 1995. Initially I managed a general practice covering all aspects of the law, but in 1997 I found my true calling in personal injury and medical negligence cases.

Passion for Justice

People often ask me why I continue to practise law after so many years. The answer is simple: I love fighting for justice. Every client’s case is a cause I believe in, and many clients do not have the financial resources to pursue justice on their own. I finance these cases because I am driven by a deep-seated commitment to righting wrongs and ensuring that justice is served.

Professional Philosophy

My approach to law is rooted in compassion, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of justice. I understand that each case represents a significant moment in my clients’ lives, and I am committed to providing personalised, thoughtful representation. Every case is unique, and all members of my firm take the time to fully understand each client’s story.

Beyond the Office

When I’m not in the office, you can find me cheering for Armagh GAA, attending greyhound and horse-race meetings, spending time with my large family, or most importantly simply enjoying the quiet moments with Alexandra. I’m a firm believer that life is about balance, and these moments outside of work are what recharge and inspire me to continue my life as a solicitor.
